Welcome war refugees

[An appeal in the Netherlands]

Welcome war refugees
  • Women and children
  • Migrant workers
  • Conscientious objectors and deserters

Whatever is in your passport

  • Ukraine or Russia
  • Israel or Palestine

Demands

  • No forced returns
  • Arrangements for shelter and income not abolished but improved
  • Working conditions equal for all workers, whatever their passport

The Dutch state participates in the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East with

  • arms deliveries
  • military training
  • billions in aid

The workers pay for this participation of ‘their’ states in wars with

  • cuts in health care and education
  • decline in wages and benefits in the face of inflation
  • deterioration of working conditions and social services
  • in war with their blood, their lives or lifelong traumas

The answer to these attacks by the state and capital in ALL countries that participate directly or indirectly in the wars can be NO PEACE BETWEEN CLASSES.

The response of the international working class in Gaza, on the West Bank, in Israel, in Ukraine, Russia, Iran, China, in the USA, the European Union, in THE NETHERLANDS can only be

  • workers’ struggle as a defense against the deterioration of our living conditions
  • workers’ struggle, also when it leads to the defeat of ‘our’ state in the war
  • workers’ struggle, also when it leads to the replacement of state power by the power of the working class organized in councils (as the end of World War I showed)

STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE!

  1. I like the simple format of this important message. However, the last bullet point is unclear. What is the meaning of –“even if our defense struggle leads to the replacement of state power by the power of the working class organized in councils (as the end of World War I proved)”? What do you mean “even if”?
